Don’s Presentations

Don Brown’s ability to present history to children in a lively and entertaining fashion is now available for presentation at your school!

Don connects history to student’s lives. He introduces them to the struggles of real people, and explores the nature of perseverance and its importance to achievement.
Don connects writing books to school work. He reminds students that writing and research follow the same principles whether they are for a publisher or a school assignment.

1. He explains the steps and standards for writing non-fiction books. Students can use this knowledge to
evaluate historical literature.

2. He outlines the process needed to create the images in picture books and describes how students can adopt it for their own art projects.

3. He reviews the materials he has used to create his books and underlines their accessibility for
student projects.

4. He reviews the importance of history to contemporary
literature, film, and art.

PROGRAMS AVAILABLE:

Grades: K-8.

Length: Approximately thirty to forty-five minutes.

Audience size: Classes of about 50 students
per presentation are preferred although groups of 80
children are acceptable.

LARGER GROUPS ARE ARRANGED BY SPECIAL REQUEST.

Fees: $650 for a half-day program (2 presentations) $950 for a full day program (4 presentations). Travel and miscellaneous expenses are negotiated on an individual basis. (Generally, they apply only to areas beyond the metropolitan New York area.)
